Lauren Pastrana is the Evening News Anchor at CBS News Miami where she co-anchors the
5, 6, 7 and 11pm newscasts. The 2x Emmy Award-winning journalist specializes in health and wellness reporting and is a passionate advocate for Alzheimer's Awareness and First Responder Mental Health.
In June 2023, in honor of "Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month", Lauren produced, wrote and hosted a 30-minute special titled "Illuminating Alzheimer's". She did a second special in 2024, in which she followed the progress of the patients over the course of the year. You can watch the Emmy Award-winning broadcast below.
Lauren anchored the 7, 10 and 11pm CBS News Miami broadcasts on Inauguration Day LIVE from outside the White House.
Lauren interviewed 25+ people from South Florida, including elected leaders, who made the trip to the Inauguration.
Lauren has roughly 20 years of experience in television, radio and web-based news reporting. She has covered everything from crime and political corruption, to hurricanes and historic events. She is skilled in breaking news and her current reporting focus is on health and well being.
Lauren graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication-News and a Minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership. She was at the top of her class, earning her the unique distinction of the Four-Year Scholar Award at commencement.
Lauren is passionate about storytelling. While she can cover just about anything, she loves to pour her energy into positive stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Her goal is to inform as well inspire others to make positive impacts in their communities.
